Apparently I used to cry before every ballet class (and piano for that matter) when I was younger. What can I say I grew up with 2 older brothers that wanted to play hockey, football, and wrestle? There was no way I wanted to wear ‘tutus’ and be graceful … I just wanted to play with the boys and have fun!! And that I still do ; )
Well after 20+ years … I opted for a new challenge and bought a pair pink ballet shoes and went to my first ballet class this past week. Wait, what? Ballet? Yup. Well, I will start off with that I didn’t completely make this choice on my own as Coach Alan said I could replace a workout with a dance class of my choice (sweeeet, goodbye easy, boring run or ride!) and then recently a good friend of mine suggested ballet briefly …. and I somehow found myself instantly seize the moment and fully support it. And then somehow 5 of us signed up for ballet class. And I must say ballet is actually pretty fun, but doing it with 5 good friends makes it way more fun!
So, what was I thinking? Well, for someone who loves the extremes of sports ballet actually gives me a similar feeling … it’s like standing on a cliff before I jump or the moment just before a race or just before I start climbing up a wall. I get a similar feeling in my stomach of unease, nervousness and challenge … sounds odd, but it’s true. So, me trying to be soft and graceful makes me feel exactly the same way of discomfort! And since I’ve taken a break from extreme sports because of triathlon, ballet and hip-hop here I come … lol, for now.
Maybe one day …
Ummm definitely not, I think I would prefer being a super fast triathlete having my name on my car like:

Linsey Corbin (a top Pro triathlete), who beat me this morning at the Subaru Sprint. I guess I shouldn’t feel too bad for coming in 2nd …
[...] So instead I got to be spectator/stand-in coach (no Alan, I don’t want your job but it was fun for the day). I ran around cheering and yelling out splits at Martina who came up just short of victory to Ironman (Ironwoman?) pro Lindsey Corbin and deserving a rental car with her name on it. [...]
OK – now I know who beat you and why Rob did not do a 1/2 iron. Congrats again. Curious….is it just the female friends doing the ballet or are there any male friends in the group? Will pay money for photos of male friends doing ballet (not that there is anything wrong with that). Just think it could be a potential source of income.
Thanks!
We totally tried to get some guys to do ballet (class full of girls in tights?), but apparently there was no interest … I’ll keep trying tho
